This course is accredited by the International Guild of Complementary Therapists and is an ideal oncology foundation course for spa therapists, beauty practitioners and healthcare workers, giving you valuable oncology theory knowledge and understanding of the biology of cancer.
Modules include:
What is cancer and what causes cancers to develop and to spread
What is metastasis?
Cancer Act 1939 and how it affects bodywork with people with cancer
Treatments for cancer, their effects and the implications for massage and bodywork – e.g. skin, feet, hands, nails, scalp
Adjustments for massage of people with cancer,
Benefits of massage and bodywork for people who have cancer or who have had cancer (including research)
PPE and other precautions for treating people with cancer
Consultation process for people with cancer
Keeping the client comfortable during treatment (adjusting for the effects of cancer treatments on the person)
The need for less demanding treatments – gentle touch, acupressure, relaxation, Reiki, polarity therapy, etc
Each theory module has a multiple choice test which must be completed before you attend your practical training.
